Unpopular Opinions

I am watching the NCAA selection show and I can't wait for the tournament to start! I am getting nervous already. Now for the unpopular opinions. First, I am SO excited Louisville got the #1 seed!!! GO CARDS!! It was interesting sitting in my living room last night watching the 'Cuse - Louisville game with Phishbone23. We had to sit on different couches. Second, now Phishbone23 just asked me who I would cheer for if Siena played Louisville. I have to admit that I would cheer for Louisville, if only because I hope they win everything. That being said, I hope Siena does well and if Siena beats Louisville, I wouldn't be devestated. And finally, third, I love Bobby Knight. They were discussing how mid majors tend to get screwed over if they are bubble teams (St. Mary's this year, and it may have happened to Siena if they hadn't won the MAAC) and Coach Knight comes in amidst all of the arguing and says, "Why not just play one more round". It makes perfect sense! It wouldn't be that hard. Anyways, I am looking forward to watching the games this weekend with Kev, MikeyO, and Phishbone23.

Yeah, I am gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you on that topic. There tournament is good as is. There is no need for expansion. They take the top 34 teams AFTER all conference tournament, so you figure that's about the top 40 teams in the country. If you're not in the top 40 or you don't win your conference tournay, then you don't need to be in. Plus aren't the tournament conferences another way to get in for all teams (think of it as a 314 team field instead of 128). No need for expansion. just leave it as is

The question comes up in reference to mid major schools who conference play is much less difficult than, say, the Big East, but loses their conference tournament. It is difficult for mid majors to get out of conference matchups with respectable teams and even more difficult to get those matchups on an even basis. Usually it requires a two year agreeement to play at the other team's venue, at least. On top of that those matchups are scheduled before the season begins and thus there is no guarantee that the "respectable" team will be good in that given year. The team I am specifically thing of is Saint Mary's. The schedule out of conference matchups with teams that have been historically good, but tanked fantastically this year thus not counting that much for Saint Mary's when they beat them. However, despite being good, they are in the same conference as Gonzaga, which makes it difficult to win their tournament. Siena would likely have been another good example if they had not won their tournament. Only 4 teams from non power conferences got at large bids this year. I just can't believe that there weren't more deserving teams out there than the teams from the power conferences that got in.

Well I think if Siena had gotten to the finale and lost to Niagara they would have a still gotten in over St. Mary's. I think the reason the Gaels did not get in is not as much their schedule, but more that they lost their best player for 3 weeks at the end of the year and looked like crap after he came back. I think it was more the timing of the injury and looking at the way the team has played lately. A better choice to be upset would be Creighton or San Diego State who played well at the end. All that being said, it is much more difficult for miod-majors to get teams to come to their building unless at best they offer a 2 for 1 back at their place ( or as Kev's mom calls it "a Wednesday special".

Beer is good. I was a little scared about the first batch as the first couple of bottle (1/2 liter) didn't carbonate well, still tasted good, but flat, but the 1 liter bottles seem okay. This is good because the second batch was bottled almost entirely in 1L (I was lazy) so hopefully it will all be good. Second batch should be ready for testing this weekend.
