If you like that, you should check out some stuff by the same author, Mark Millar. Go get "Wanted", which is about to be made into a bad Angelina Jolie movie. It's very very violent and amoral, and kind of Fight Club in its philosophy. You'll like it. Read it before the movie stains popular culture's knowledge of the book, like happened to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
And if you haven't read the first two volumes of "The Authority" yet, for god's sake, get on it.
And, of course, there's "The Ultimates", which is fantastic. It's a reimagining of the Avengers as a military type team. Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, etc. Vol. 1 and 2 are both great. (3 is coming out now and it's shit, so it's a finite read.)
If you want another good Superman story, read Secret Identity, which is by Kurt Busiek, I think. It's about a guy in our world named Clark Kent, who discovers he actually has Superman's powers somehow. It's much, much better than it sounds, and the art is very good.
There's your newb comic recommendations for the day.
Oh, and if you want a different kind of Superman story (like, it's about Superman and the Justice League, but done by another company), you should check out Supreme Power. It's 18 issues total, before it switched titles and focus and became bad. It's written by J. Michael Straczynski, who did Babylon 5. Really, really great setup for an epic story that didn't get told, for reasons that aren't clear...
